The Accounting Assistant plays a vital operational role at Tierra del Sol Housing Corporation, supporting fiscal integrity across regional housing developments and community projects. This position is directly responsible for executing daily transactional accounting, maintaining bulletproof documentation for construction fund sourcing, and ensuring precise tracking of organizational expenses. The ideal candidate brings a sharp eye for detail, deep familiarity with QuickBooks, and an understanding of project-based tracking essential to affordable housing development.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
• Construction Sourcing & Uses: Compile, verify, and maintain comprehensive tracking documentation for construction project funds (Sources and Uses), ensuring all draw requests align with grant, loan, and program restrictions.
• QuickBooks Data Entry: Process daily financial transactions accurately in QuickBooks, mapping costs to specific jobs, grant strings, or operational codes.
• Accounts Receivable (A/R): Generate invoices, track outstanding balances, issue client reminders, and ensure prompt recording of incoming funds.
• Credit Card Reconciliation: Perform monthly audits of corporate credit cards, matching internal receipts with statements and resolving discrepancies immediately.
• Check Deposits: Prepare and execute timely bank deposits for checks, ensuring clear digital and paper trails for corporate audit preparedness.
• Expense & Mileage Logs: Review, audit, and log staff mileage reports and general operational expenses against corporate reimbursement policy deadlines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Experience: 2–4 years of progressive experience in bookkeeping, accounting assistance, or data entry, ideally in a construction, real estate, or non-profit setting.
• Software Mastery: Advanced, hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks (Desktop) and Microsoft Excel. • Industry Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of construction accounting concepts, including job costing and funding tracking.
• Precision: Exceptional mathematical accuracy and an elite level of attention to technical data processing details.
• Bilingual Skills: Professional fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred to align with our regional operations.
